I was introduced to NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback after consulting with Jan about my clinical work.  I work primarily with individuals who have experienced trauma, many of whom have received previous clinical services with limited success.  I often felt challenged when clients entered counselling and basic self -regulation skills were too overwhelming to complete or didn’t seem to help.  When I began using NeurOptimal® with clients, I felt more confident about my ability to meet clients where they were.  Many clients have felt encouraged that there is a system that can  help without having to extensively review their trauma history.  I often recommend NeurOptimal® at the beginning of counselling services when clients are feeling overwhelmed and their nervous system is showing signs of dysregulation.  I have found NeurOptimal® prepares clients well for trauma processing work.  I have observed since incorporating NeurOptimal® into my practice that clients feel less defeated and more optimistic about the counselling process and their ability to make changes in their life.  I have noticed that symptoms shift faster when using NeurOptimal®, which is very encouraging for clients.
